"The next time I talk to you, there will be a Mason-Dixon line between us."

- Rick Shanley, now at Emory University in Atlanta Georgia.

Something struck me just now. I bought toothpaste the other day. This may not

seem like a big deal to you. But first off you don't realize how many

diferent kinds of toothpaste there are. And when you are guided by you

instinct that "Rick, toothpaste is pretty much toothpaste" and your

inclination to take very good care of your teeth you run into a dilemma.

The choice becomes "do I pick one at ramdom and submit to the power of

subliminal advertising or do I find the cheapest toothpaste that is

approved by the ada?"

and secondly I had never bought toothpaste before, at least not by

myself.........

....but I was running low.

These are the things that occupy my mind. People around me fuss over

GPA's and majors. Others email me with worries about what they will do

this summer. Some worry about applying to med skool. Some law skool.

Others are busy getting a sheepskin that demonstrates their qualification

for a high paying job. There are those who want to save the world, from

itself, from themselves, from others, from me.........

........I and I think to myself that I went to buy some toothpaste....
